Travel West is a conceptual magazine focused on unique and fun places to visit and explore in the US. All ads were created by myself to and were made to feel as if the companies themselves made them. Many of the photos are also all taken by myself. Many photos in this magazine are attributed to my late grandma, Frances Hayden. Before her passing I never had a chance to really see all the photos she had taken around the world. Now after spending hours digging through them and seeing how skilled and impressive she was, there is a feeling of sadness we couldn’t talk about how she became such a great photographer. So while this magazine is focused on the places and stories that those places hold, it is also a personal memorial to my grandma and her magazine worthy photography. I hope you enjoy learning about and seeing these places as much as I did researching. This project was my true first dive into layout and pacing of a publication. Figuring out were ads were best suited and how to align article photos without ruining the flow of text was a learning process.
